Brook Molnar, the 21-year-old accused of critically injuring a friend in a drunk driving crash on April 24, 2017, will go to trial after being charged with several counts including aggravated assault by vehicle, DUI, and reckless endangerment, according to the Post-Gazette.
Molnar was driving her Mercedes sedan on Chartiers Avenue in Pittsburgh when she lost control of her car and struck a guide rail and utility pole. During a preliminary hearing on January 3, 2018, Officer Ronald Wolfe testified that Molnar was traveling at a high rate of speed before she crashed.
Molnar suffered only minor injuries. On the other hand, her passenger, a 22-year-old man, suffered serious injuries including a head injury and was hospitalized for eight days, the Post-Gazette reports.
Just a few months after her April crash, Molnar was involved in another drunken driving accident on July 26, 2017, in which she was the sole survivor. Three of her friends, including the 21-year-old driver, died after the SUV they were riding in hit a utility pole and became entangled in power lines.
