Sacramento Man Accused of Causing Drunk Driving Accident That Killed Passenger
Authorities in Sacramento County charged a 24-year-old man with driving under the influence after he caused a single-vehicle collision that killed his passenger.
The Sacramento Bee reports that the crash occurred around 2:00 a.m. Monday, December 11, 2017, in Fair Oaks. A man driving a 1997 Toyota Corolla was traveling southbound on Sunset Boulevard when he struck a concrete wall.
The driver and his 22-year-old passenger were trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated, the paper reports.
The injured passenger was still alive when he was rescued from the wreckage but died of injuries shortly afterward.
California Highway Patrol Officer Tommy Riggin told the Sacramento Bee that the engine of the Corolla smashed through the dashboard, forcing the passenger into the backseat.
The driver suffered severe injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The Cost of Drunk Driving Accidents
