Police later learned that Coulibaly had been partying on Miami Beach and then went to a strip club on Biscayne Boulevard just before the accident, reported NBC Miami 6. Video surveillance had even captured the 31-year-old “drinking alcohol and stumbling while she walked” before getting into her car. Then, at around 5:22 a.m., Coulibaly lost control of her vehicle while crossing the train tracks at NE 14th Avenue, jumped the curb of the sidewalk, and struck the boys.” All three teens were killed instantly from blunt-force trauma.
Officers said that the woman had “reeked” of alcohol while sitting in the driver’s seat and detectives uncovered a half-empty bottle of Patron tequila and two grams of marijuana inside her purse. That wasn’t the only thing law enforcement officers discovered. It turns out, Coulibaly’s had been driving with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) level of 0.15, nearly twice the legal limit in the State of Florida. They also learned of Coulibaly’s “troubling driving record.”
After the tragic collision, Coulibaly was charged with three counts of DUI manslaughter and three counts of vehicular manslaughter. The judge set her bond at $300,000 and required her to comply with “total lockdown house arrest with a GPS ankle monitor bracelet and an alcohol-monitoring bracelet.”
